SPECIAL COMPETITIVE PROGRAMS High School: This program is designed for swimmers in the 9th-12th grades interested in representing their High School. This group meets 2 times per week: Fridays 4:30-5:30 PM and Saturdays 12:00noon – 1:00 PM. This program will run ONLY in September, October, and November. Middle School: This program is designed for swimmers in the 7th-8th grades interested in representing their Middle School. This group meets 2 times per week: Fridays 4:30-5:30 PM and Saturdays 12:00noon – 1:00 PM. This program will run ONLY in December, January and February. Home School: HEAT (Home Educated Aquatic Team) is a competitive swim team open only to area Home School students. this group is designed for swimmers 5 years old and over, wanting to gain a better understanding of competitive swimming and to swim for fitness. Intra-squad competitions are encouraged, however out-of-town competitions are not. this group meets 4 times per week, Monday through Thursday from 2:45 - 3:45 PM. The coaches recommend that swimmers attend at least 2 times per week. This program is split into 2 groups, Stroke School and Fitness for Competition. Home School Stroke School: Group is the same as above except for the time it meets. Practice times are 11:45-12:15 PM. Fitness for Competition: Group is designed for swimmers 8 and over wanting to gain better understanding of competitive swimming and swim for fitness as well. Competition is encouraged but not required. This group meets up to 4 times per week: Monday – Thursday from 11:45-12:45 PM. The coaches recommend the swimmers attend at least 2 times per week. (SwimAmerica classes are available for Home Schoolers M/W or T/Th 11:00-11:45 AM. Please see SwimAmerica section of this website.) Triathlete Stroke School: This group is designed for the instruction of the fundamentals of freestyle and the adjustments which need to be made when competing in an open water situation. This group meets once a week, on Saturdays 12:00noon-12:45 PM. It is suggested that participants also attend at least three Fitness Swimming Sessions per week. Fitness Swimming: Designed for swimmers wanting to swim for fitness. Practices will be available for use, however, although coaches will be on duty, no instruction should be expected. Fitness Swimming Times: Mondays – Thursdays 2:45 PM – 3:45 PM; 4:00 – 4:45 PM Masters: This program is for adults who wish to exercise at a level giving them the ability to compete in Masters competitions. Stroke technique corrections will be given. This group meets 5 times per week: Monday – Thursday 6:00-7:15 PM and Fridays 5:30-7:00 PM. The coaches recommend swimmers attend at least 3-4 workouts per week. |
